On October 28, 2025, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his wife performed the concluding rituals of the four-day Chhath Puja at Kuakhai river ghat in Bhubaneswar. CM Majhi highlighted the festival as a representation of 'Nari Shakti' (women power). The Chhath Mahaparv involves worship of the Sun God and includes rituals such as Nahay-Khay, Kharna, Sandhya Arghya, and finally the Usha Arghya — an offering to the rising sun performed by devotees at riverbanks. Similar reverence was expressed by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta at Hathi Ghat near ITO in New Delhi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Patna, as thousands of devotees across these regions gathered for prayers. The festival, celebrated from October 25 to 28, showcased the participation of public leaders and a large community of devotees, emphasizing faith, devotion, and communal harmony while invoking blessings from the Sun God for well-being and prosperity.
