OpenAI Offers Free 1-Year Access to ChatGPT Go for Indian Users Starting November 4
OpenAI will provide its ChatGPT Go subscription, featuring higher message limits and image generation, free for one year to Indian users who sign up during a limited-time period starting November 4. Launched in India in August to offer affordable AI access, ChatGPT Go subscriptions have more than doubled. This move supports growing AI adoption in India and coincides with OpenAI's DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru.
OpenAI announced a promotional offer making ChatGPT Go available free for one year to users in India who register starting November 4. ChatGPT Go, launched in India in August as a lower-cost subscription tier, provides increased daily message limits, image generation, file uploads, and longer memory for personalized AI responses. Since its launch, paid ChatGPT subscriptions in India have more than doubled, reflecting strong demand. The promotion celebrates OpenAI's first DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru and aligns with the IndiaAI Mission, supporting the country's rapidly growing AI market—the company's second-largest globally. Millions of Indian users, including developers, students, and professionals, actively use ChatGPT daily. OpenAI has since expanded ChatGPT Go to nearly 90 markets worldwide. Nick Turley, OpenAI's Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, emphasized that this free availability ahead of the event aims to help more Indians access advanced AI capabilities. This strategic move follows similar efforts by competitors offering free premium AI features in India, reinforcing OpenAI's commitment to the region.
