Priyanka Gandhi Vadra urges PM Modi and Delhi CM to tackle Delhi's severe air pollution
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra called on Prime Minister Modi, Environment Minister Yadav, and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to urgently address the severe air pollution in Delhi, describing the smog as a 'filthy smog' and a 'grey shroud.' She emphasized the urgent need for bipartisan action to protect vulnerable populations from the toxic air, which repeatedly affects the city without resolution.
In response to Delhi's dangerously high air pollution levels, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appealed to top government leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She highlighted the persistent problem of toxic air in Delhi, describing it as a 'filthy smog' and a 'grey shroud' that severely affects public health, especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues. Gandhi criticized the ongoing exposure of Delhi citizens to hazardous air pollution year after year without effective solutions. Her statement comes amid reports of Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 'very poor' to 'severe' levels, with several regions recording AQI above 400, signaling dangerous conditions. Medical experts and authorities have noted increased respiratory problems due to this pollution spike, and government efforts so far include partial restrictions and measures like banning open coal burning. However, the call from Gandhi stresses the need for immediate, coordinated action from all political sides to safeguard citizens and mitigate the worsening pollution crisis.
