The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi is deploying automated mist spraying systems at three key pollution hotspots—Narela, Bawana, and Jahangirpuri—using RO-treated water to reduce dust pollution. This initiative is part of a broader government drive to improve air quality through innovative dust control measures and aligns with winter action plans targeting major pollution zones in the city.

In an effort to combat worsening dust pollution in Delhi, the Public Works Department (PWD) has announced the installation of mist spraying systems at three critical pollution hotspots: Narela, Bawana, and Jahangirpuri. These systems will utilize reverse osmosis (RO)-treated water to spray a fine mist that binds dust particles, thereby reducing ambient dust levels and improving air quality. This project follows earlier successful pilot programs in other areas and is part of a larger government directive aimed at lowering pollution levels, especially during the peak smog season. The initiative integrates automated controls that adjust misting based on real-time air quality data. Alongside the deployment of misting systems, other anti-pollution strategies in Delhi’s winter action plan include intensive monitoring, strict enforcement of pollution norms, infrastructure repairs to curb dust emissions, and traffic management improvements to reduce roadside congestion. This approach reflects Delhi’s growing recognition of dust control technology as a viable, scalable method to address localized pollution hotspots and improve urban air quality comprehensively.
