Rajni Kant Leads India's GI Tag Movement

Rajni Kant, known as the 'GI Man of India,' is spearheading the Geographical Indication (GI) tag movement. He has facilitated GI registrations for numerous traditional products, empowering artisans and preserving cultural heritage. His efforts have transformed Varanasi into a GI hub, with a model replicated across India.

Rajni Kant, a Padma Shri awardee from Varanasi, is instrumental in securing Geographical Indication (GI) tags for traditional Indian products. He has worked in 30 states, filing 496 GI applications, with 159 granted. Kant's efforts have empowered artisans and preserved cultural heritage, transforming Varanasi into a GI hub. His model has been replicated nationwide, supported by state governments and NABARD. Kant's work aligns with the Modi government's mission to secure 10,000 GI tags by 2030, promoting both development and heritage.
