Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s anticipated visit to India in early December, Moscow and New Delhi are actively drafting a comprehensive set of agreements intended to enhance their longstanding partnership. According to Russia’s ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, the discussions will span a wide agenda, with special focus on strengthening economic and trade relations, but will also include science, education, cultural exchanges, and high technology. While Alipov refrained from detailing specific documents, citing ongoing negotiations, he emphasized that substantial progress is being made and that both governments are engaged in intense preparations. The visit is expected to be extensive, touching on all aspects of bilateral cooperation, and follows prior engagements by high-ranking officials from both countries. The visit holds additional significance as it marks 25 years since the establishment of the India-Russia strategic partnership and 15 years since it was elevated to a “specially privileged partnership.” President Putin has directed his government to address trade logistics, settlements, and imbalances, reflecting a mutual commitment to deepening economic ties. The summit occurs amid broader international pressures, underlining the importance both nations place on sustaining and expanding their partnership.
