The sacred Sikh relic Jore Sahib, footwear of the 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, was transported from Delhi to Patna after over 300 years and enshrined at Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib on November 1, 2025. The relic was scientifically validated and preserved with the support of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and the Union Ministry of Culture. This event, supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, signifies a strengthened spiritual connection for Sikhs across India.
The historically significant Sikh relic known as Jore Sahib, the actual footwear of the 10th Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, was ceremoniously brought from New Delhi to Patna after more than three centuries. On November 1, 2025, the relic was established at Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, the revered birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The transfer marked a major event in Sikhism, with private custodians related to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri handing over the relics to Sikh management committees in Delhi and Patna. The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts authenticated the relic through carbon dating and ensured its preservation using scientific conservation methods. The journey covered approximately 1,500 kilometers across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, culminating in a nine-day holy yatra tribute. The initiative received the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who paid respects at Patna Sahib during the enshrinement. This event symbolizes a reinforced sacred geography of the Sikh faith beyond Punjab, reflecting the widespread spiritual and historical influence of the Sikh Gurus across India.
