Tata Chemicals to Invest ₹515 Crore in Greenfield IVSD Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu

Tata Chemicals Limited has announced a significant investment of ₹515 crore to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Valinokkam, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. This plant is designed to bolster the company's production capacity and supply chain network for Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD), a key product in its portfolio. The facility will have an installed capacity of 210 kilotons per annum (KTPA) and is expected to be completed within 36 months, funded by a mix of internal accruals and external financing.This strategic expansion aims to expand Tata Chemicals' footprint in South India, improve logistics efficiency, and enhance regional distribution. By creating a second major manufacturing base, the company intends to diversify its production footprint, currently centered at Mithapur, Gujarat, thereby reducing regional dependency and fostering a more resilient manufacturing ecosystem. The proximity to key southern markets is anticipated to shorten transit times, improve delivery efficiency, and lower logistics costs, enabling faster distribution and better service levels crucial in the competitive FMCG and industrial salt segments.
