A technical malfunction in Delhi Airport’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) system disrupted flights between Delhi and Lucknow on Friday morning. Multiple arrivals and departures experienced delays up to two and a half hours. Passenger frustration caused chaos at Lucknow’s airport terminal. The fault was traced to Delhi's ATC Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) and resolved by noon, restoring normal operations.

On Friday morning, a technical failure in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) supporting Air Traffic Control at Delhi Airport triggered widespread flight disruptions, particularly affecting routes between Delhi and Lucknow. Multiple flights arriving from Delhi to Lucknow, including Indigo’s 6E 6350 and Air India’s AI 2499, landed significantly late, some by nearly two hours. Departures from Lucknow to Delhi, such as Air India’s AI 2100 and Indigo’s 6E 6737, were delayed by over two hours as well. The disruption caused considerable inconvenience, especially to passengers with connecting flights, resulting in unrest within the Lucknow airport terminal. Airline and airport officials intervened to address the situation. The glitch forced air traffic controllers at Delhi to manually process flight plans, slowing down operations drastically. The technical problem was resolved by noon, allowing a gradual return to normal flight schedules. This incident forms part of a larger nationwide impact, with similar delays reported at other airports like Mumbai and Jaipur due to the same system failure. Authorities confirmed no cancellations directly linked to this fault, but the cascading effects led to hundreds of delayed flights and significant operational challenges across northern India.
