Technip Energies has announced the award of two significant contracts by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for major projects at its Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai refinery in Maharashtra, India. These awards extend more than two decades of collaboration between the two entities. The first contract is an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) agreement for new polypropylene and Butene-1 units at the Bina refinery. These units are designed to produce 550 KTPA of polypropylene and 50 KTPA of Butene-1, essential building blocks for widely used products such as packaging materials, pipes, and automotive components. This particular contract is part of BPCL’s larger Bina Petchem and Refinery Expansion Project, aiming to increase refinery capacity and construct new cracker and downstream petrochemical units. The second contract covers Engineering, Procurement and Construction management (EPsCm) services for a 3 MMTPA Petro Resid Fluidized Catalytic Cracker Unit (PRFCC) at the Mumbai refinery. Notably, this will be India’s first PRFCC unit, a crucial development set to convert heavy refinery residues into lighter, higher-value products. The scope of this second contract also includes auxiliary units along with associated offsites and utilities. Davendra Kumar, Managing Director of Technip Energies India, expressed honor in supporting BPCL’s development plans, stating that these awards reflect confidence in their engineering capabilities and ability to deliver complex projects. With a strong local presence and over 50 years of operational experience in India, Technip Energies reaffirms its commitment to advancing the country’s energy infrastructure and economic growth through these large-scale and intricate projects.
