Delhi Police's Special Cell busted a terror module handled by Bangladesh-based Lashkar operative Shabbir Ahmed Lone, preventing a major incident. Eight individuals were arrested across Kolkata and Tamil Nadu. The plot involved pasting anti-national posters at Delhi and Kolkata metro stations, with plans for further terrorist activities. Lone, a known Kashmiri terrorist who fled to Bangladesh, had reassembled his module and conducted dry runs for attacks in India, re-establishing ties with LeT.

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell successfully thwarted a terror plot orchestrated by Shabbir Ahmed Lone, a Lashkar handler based in Bangladesh. The operation led to the arrest of eight individuals involved in the module. The plot initially came to light after anti-national posters, echoing terrorist slogans, were discovered at Kashmiri Gate and other Delhi metro stations on February 7th. Following a tip-off from CISF, the Special Cell tracked and arrested two suspects, Umar Farooq and Robil Ul Islam, in Kolkata. During interrogation, they revealed that Lone, a Kashmiri terrorist with a history of 'fidayeen' activities, was their director. Lone had been arrested in 2007 with weapons, released in 2019, and subsequently fled to Bangladesh, where he re-established his connections with LeT leadership to organize terror activities in India. Further investigation by the Special Cell revealed that Lone had reassembled his operatives, conducted dry runs, and orchestrated similar poster campaigns in Kolkata on February 10th. The probe also identified six additional Bangladeshi nationals in Tamil Nadu who were part of the module and intended to be moved to Kolkata for future terrorist operations. These six individuals were apprehended with the assistance of the Tamil Nadu police, effectively dismantling the module and preventing potential attacks.
