On October 28, 2025, Justices Dinesh Mehta, Avneesh Jhingan, and Chandrasekharan Sudha were formally sworn in as judges of the Delhi High Court, marking a significant addition to its bench strength and diversity. The oath ceremony was conducted by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, attended by senior judges, advocates, and the legal fraternity. The three judges were transferred from the Rajasthan High Court (Mehta and Jhingan) and the Kerala High Court (Sudha) pursuant to notifications issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. These transfers were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai on August 27, 2025. The induction raises the working strength of the Delhi High Court to 44 judges, out of a sanctioned strength of 60, and brings varied judicial experience from different jurisdictions. This reshuffle also involves the transfer of Justice Arun Monga and Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju out of Delhi High Court to Rajasthan and Karnataka High Courts respectively, who were given formal farewells. Additionally, six out of the top ten judges by seniority in Delhi High Court now come from other courts, influencing administrative committees such as the General Supervision and Administrative Committee. This realignment aims to enhance the court's adjudicatory capacities and administrative efficiency while promoting diversity on the bench.
