Türkiye's Chemical Sector Maintains Strong Export Performance
Türkiye's chemical sector remained the second-largest exporter in April, achieving $3.1 billion in sales, a 19.3% year-on-year increase. It accounted for 14% of the nation's total exports. Cumulatively, January-April exports approached $11 billion. İKMİB Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı noted the sector's steady growth and competitiveness despite global challenges, stressing the importance of these figures for year-end targets and future strategies including value-added production and new market access.
Türkiye's chemical sector demonstrated robust export performance in April, solidifying its position as the country's second-largest exporting sector. Data from the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB) revealed that the sector's overseas sales reached an impressive $3.1 billion. This significant contribution represented 14 percent of Türkiye’s total exports for April and marked a substantial 19.3 percent increase compared to the same month last year. Concurrently, Türkiye's overall exports in April surged by 22.3 percent to $25.4 billion, registering the second-highest monthly export figure on record, according to the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM).For the initial four-month period from January to April, the chemical sector's cumulative exports neared $11 billion. Vefa İbrahim Aracı, Chairman of İKMİB, highlighted the sector's strong start to the year and its consistent export growth, underscoring its ability to preserve competitiveness amidst global challenges. Aracı emphasized that the nearly $11 billion in exports achieved by April serves as a crucial indicator for the sector's ambitious year-end targets. He further articulated a strategic focus on value-added production, sustainability-oriented transformation, actively pursuing new international markets, and attracting foreign investment to further enhance the country's export capabilities.
