US Sanctions India-Based Trader in Crackdown on Iran Oil Trade
The US has sanctioned 17 entities, including India-based TR6 Petro India LLP, for involvement in illicit petroleum trading with Iran. The move aims to stem revenue funding Iran's nuclear program and support for terrorist groups. The US continues targeting maritime service providers and dark fleet operators facilitating Iranian oil exports.
The US Department of State has imposed sanctions on 17 entities, individuals, and vessels for their role in facilitating Iran's illicit petroleum trade. Among those sanctioned is TR6 Petro India LLP, an India-based petroleum products trader, which imported over $8 million worth of Iranian-origin bitumen between October 2024 and June 2025. The US claims these actions are designed to cut off revenue streams that Iran uses to advance its nuclear program and support terrorist groups. The State Department emphasized that Iran continues to sell oil through third-country service providers despite existing sanctions on its main oil authorities. The US Treasury also sanctioned 41 additional entities, individuals, vessels, and aircraft as part of a broader crackdown on Iran's illicit petroleum and petrochemical exports, which are accused of supplying arms to Iran-backed terrorist groups. The US vowed to continue targeting networks involved in the transport of Iranian crude oil and petroleum products, including maritime service providers and dark fleet operators, to disrupt Iran's ability to generate funds and destabilize regional trade.
