Ahead of the Women's Premier League 2026 season, franchises have finalized their retained players, with Indian World Cup stars Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shafali Verma among those kept by their teams. Notable overseas players like Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, and Amelia Kerr are set to enter the auction pool after being released. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals retained the maximum five players each, Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained four, Gujarat Giants two, and UP Warriorz just one. The retention rules allow up to three capped Indian players, two overseas, and two uncapped players, with one uncapped Indian required if five are retained. Teams receive Right to Match (RTM) cards if they retain fewer than five. The auction purse is Rs 15 crore per team, with guideline retention slabs set at Rs 3.5 crore, Rs 2.5 crore, Rs 1.75 crore, Rs 1 crore, and Rs 50 lakh for each retained player. The auction is scheduled for November 27 in the national capital.
